Grand Cultural Tour



Arrival and overnight stay at hotel.

Day 1. Sightseeing tour of Tbilisi (old city, Narikala fortress, Metekhi church, Sioni cathedral, synagogue ets)

Day 2. Visiting cave complex of Davit Gareji. Traveling to Kakheti region – the easternmost region of Georgia famous of its variety of wine. Visiting old town Sighnaghi with its distinguished architecture and splendid views to Allazani valley.

Day 3. Visiting town Telavi – the center of Kakheti region. Sightseeing tours to Alaverdi temple (XII century), Gremi monastery. Overnight stay in Telavi.

Day 4.  Visiting Shuamta monastery. Barbeque picnic. Retur to Tbilisi, free time.

Day 5. Departure to khevi region (mountainous region with splendid views, unique customs, excellent cuisine) En route visit of Mtskheta –  town museum and old capital of Georgia, Jvari (Cross) monastery, Svetitskhoveli temple, next en route visit of  Ananuri church. Arrival to Kazbegi village. Overnight stay at hotel.

Day 6. Walking to trinity church with its splendid view to Mkinvantsveri glassier. Outdoor picnic. Visiting Truso gorge, rich of hot water springs and splendid views. Exploring remains of ancient towers.

Day 7. Visiting town of Gori – a birthplace of Joseph Stalin. Visiting Stalin’s home-museum. Visiting antic cave city of Uplistsikhe (XI century B.C.) Overnight stey in Gori.

Day 8. Departure to southwest region of Georgia – Samckhe. En route visit of Kintsvisi Monastery with its splendid location and beautiful frescos. Continuing to Borjomi valley. Visiting King Romanov’s (later Joseph Stalin’s) Palace at Likani. Visiting worldwide famous mineral water Borjomi spring in Borjomi Park. Overnight in Borjomi.

Day 9. Traveling to Vardzia - a cave complex of 12 century. Overnight in Borjomi. 

Day 10. Departure to West Georgia. Visiting city of Kutaisi established about 20 centuries B.C. Visiting Bagrati Cathedral (cited by UNESCO as world heritage). Visiting Gelati and Motsameta monasteries. Overnight in Kutaisi.

Day. 11. Departure to mountainous region of  Svaneti. En rout visit of town Zugdidi – visiting famous Dadiani (family ruling Mengrelia region in mid-centuries) museum. Continuing to Svaneti.

Day 12. Our first destination is a highest permanent village in Europe – Ushguli (2200m). Ushguli and generally the whole Upper Svaneti region is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Here we find many watchtowers. From here we get the view of the highest mountain in GeorgiaMt. Shkhara (5068m). In Ushguli we visit Lamaria Church (12th century) and then walk up the hill to Queen Tamar’s Tower. In the evening we return to Mestia.

Day 13. Return to Tbilisi. Free time.

Day 14. Departure.
